How I Use Star Wars in the Classroom of Life

George Lucas once said, “I love history, so I create an environment -- in the past, present, or future -- that allows me to tell the story, but in a way that's not incendiary.” For Horton, Star Wars and its historical footing provides the jumping off point to teach and discuss a wide range historical themes in a way that is approachable and relatable to a wide audience. In his monthly editorial at StarWars.com, he explores the connections and parallels between World War II and Star Wars, including dictatorships, empires, military battles, and propaganda. Similarly, he hosts an ongoing series of lectures at Star Wars Celebrations called "From World War to Star Wars" and gives regular talks at libraries titled "From The Golden Age to a Galaxy Far Away."
