George Lucas Seeks to Inspire Young People Through Art

3/6/2013

In a recent interview with "CBS This Morning," Star Wars creator George Lucas revealed his plan to build an art museum in San Francisco. Lucas, who has been an avid art collector since his teenage years, hopes his museum will inspire a new generation of young people. The new musueum will feature mainly fantasy art, but will also display digital art that will include the works of ILM and other effects and animation studios. In his interview with CBS, Lucas revealed that his collection alone would allow the museum to rotate exhibits every six months for six years. In October, 2010 we had the great pleasure to visit Skywalker Ranch and view many of the fantastic pieces Lucas has collected over the years. If the Ranch is any indication of what to expect at the museum, the endeavor should turn out to be inspiring... just as Mr. Lucas hopes.
